NYBG x Chihuly

It's always such a nice break to visit one of the gardens in New York on a nice day. After visiting Chihuly Garden and Glass in Seattle last summer, my family and I just had to go and see the exhibit at the New York Botanical Garden. Luckily, we all had a free day on July 4th, so we decided to make a day trip. It did not disappoint.

Independence & New York City

Attending college in New York City gave me freedom at age 18 that not all people get to have. Instead of being confined to a set community within the boundaries of a gated facility, the entirety of New York City became my campus. I had access to a wide range of public transportation that could take me everywhere, from Brooklyn to home in New Jersey.

With this freedom, I grew a lot. I learned to get to places on time by foot instead of by my parents driving me, to manage my own bank account and completely live off of my own money (I was not given allowance), and to simply look out for myself and keep my health in check. I found myself enjoying spending time alone, for it was so liberating to not anybody to hold me back from doing whatever I wanted to do.

Governor's Ball 2017

Despite Govball being about a month ago, I thought I would write about my time since it's about the only photo content I have at the moment, and I'm missing the experience a little extra today.

I absolutely love music festivals, and Govball 2015 started it all for me. Since then, I've been every year, and still find it the most enjoyable non-rave-centric music festival in the NYC area. This year, of the three days, I attended Friday and Saturday. I was looking forward most to seeing Lorde, Saint Motel, Childish Gambino, and Phoenix, and was so saddened to find out that Gambino and Phoenix were pitted against each other as headliners on Saturday.

An Intro

Hello, reader!

It's been a while in the making, but I finally have a blog! Oh, how many sites I have customized the theme/template of but never got to the part where I write.

On this site, you can expect to see an assortment of content, from food, to music, to style. You can also expect to hear a lot about my life as a college student living in New York City (and New Jersey), and perhaps grow with me as I make my way through my nursing education.

I hope to use this blog not only as an outlet for creativity, but as a way to express my thoughts formally, and as a way to understand myself better. I look forward to reflecting more on my life and my experiences, and to have fun doing so. I hope you'll join me!

Til' next time,
