Winter Wear & Back to School

What I like about winter is the fact that I can wear the remaining 75% of my closet that I can't during the warmer weather, though the downside is that it's freaking cold out. I had been looking for a camel coat for some time, and got lucky when I stopped by Bershka a couple weeks ago. I love how its length covers most of my legs, keeping them warmer in the freezing weather.

Winter break between semesters was probably the best thing for me-- it was exactly what I needed to start the new year with. My schedule was less hectic and with that, I was less anxious about my time management. I spent a lot more time at home, which has been refreshing since I didn't have as many obligations to worry about and I was able to catch up with a lot of friends I wasn't able to meet with while taking classes. And, of course, I had more quality exploring time. I finally visited DUMBO for the first time in a while, and got to shop around SoHo with friends (and take photos in the street).

But as of this week, school is back in session, which means back to long lectures and clinicals. Going into this semester, I'm trying to adopt some new habits and principles to better manage my stress levels and busy schedule, since in the past, I've often let the two get the better of me. For one, I've started to keep a journal. I use it to keep track of my goals and to write lists so that I make sure I take things one step at a time. It's a load off of my shoulders just knowing that I won't forget a task I'm supposed to complete, and rewarding to check it off of my list later. I've also been able to just unload any feelings I need to vent out or think over in it as well. It's ultimately just refreshing to be able to use pen and paper to organize some of my life rather than only my phone.

I've also started to only work on a few goals at a time. It seems really simple, but I never realized how many things I was trying to accomplish at once in the past. From focusing on schoolwork to shooting content to trying to read more books to trying to actually sleep a normal amount of hours, etc., there is only so much I can do in one day. Therefore, focusing on only the few same goals per day over a few months is a good way to actually make sure I am giving them the time and effort they need to be completed with quality.

I'm sure time will fly a lot faster than I think, and I am definitely excited for a lot of things coming up in the next few months. In the meantime, I'll be clinging to any warmth I can get until Spring arrives, and hoping I can manage all of the schoolwork that is to come.
